How Much Money Can A Waiter or Waitress Make in USA? Or say A Server or a Waitress. Being a Server is one of the most common jobs in the Hotel Industry and is part of the Food & Beverages Service department. Here I will be providing the income of the Waiters on hourly, monthly or yearly basis working in the United States and also talk about the Tips they get.
The Information here is from various sources and mainly from Reddit. The main job of a Server is to serve food and beverage to the Guests and it's upto him or her on how the work is done, if the work is done great a great tip can be receive and the other way.



Let's talk about the Salary now...

First of all, According to BLS (Basic Life Support) the average income of a Waiter or Waitress was around $24,000 annually and this excludes the tips they receive. Obviously in the F&B department you start as a Server and you will make something around that with tips but as you will get experience you will get promoted to higher levels and will have a better income.

See it depends on the Restaurant and Hotel too, if it's a big one or you know well known then the pay rates will be higher.




Salary also depends on the time of the year, during fests and other events tips are generally higher as well as shifts which increases the overall pay.

I've gained information from many people and one of them is a Reddit user, he said that he typically works 35 hours a week. On a weekday he gets $1200 and $180 in tips. Friday and Saturday he gets around $1500 and after taxes you can say he makes average $900 a week. Doing a little Math and that will be around $3600 per month and around $40,000 per year. Now this guy said he was an experienced waiter.

Some said that they averaged $18/$20 per hour working 35 hours a week, they make $2500 per month and around $30,000 per year. This dude included tips too and as I mentioned earlier it varies from place to place and also the time of the year.

There's one guy said that he makes around $800 a week so the annual income will be around $40,000.

With all this you can say you can make easily around $30,000 to $40,000 being a Waiter/Waitress at a good place in USA and your tips will make alot of it too if you work nicely. As you get promotion and experience you will make way much more money!
